Functional / comfort / well-being targets are the core of the lighting design, especially for the commercial buildings like big retail shops, office buildings, schools, academic buildings and museums shall maintain different lighting parameters and standards. Therefore, we have to be careful when discussing other targets, which may affect the comfort of the user of the building, which is one of the main roles of the lighting design. Comfort of user in relation to the lighting design and systems may be sorted into three main categories:
- visual comfort,
- convenience of using; the easy usage and flexibility of the system,
- and the reliance of the system; how much robust, durable is the system? And how less maintenance is needed for the components of the system?
